Dennis Dries, Lead Coach
Dennis is an area native. Raised in Sandy, Oregon, he enjoys his family and dogs, building custom cars, working in his machine shop, motocross, fishing, hiking, camping, and boating, in addition to all that Mt. Hood has to offer on-snow.
Dennis has a life-long passion for skiing and has been involved in the racing industry since the early 1980's. Beginning his coaching career at the high school level, Dennis has spent nearly 30 years dedicated to developing youth athletes locally and throughout the Portland Metro area. As a racer still himself, Dennis believes that skiing and ski racing is a sport which can be enjoyed for a lifetime; the spirit of which he strives to impart upon each racer as he cultivates a culture of mountain stewardship among the next generation.
Breanne Morton, Lead Coach & Program Director
Growing up at the base of Mt. Hood provided ample opportunity for daily skiing excursions with friends and family during Breanne's formative years. Racing and skiing all corners of the mountain, in all elements with a drive to learn and do it all made Coach "Breezy" a passionate and committed coach, dedicated to providing training opportunities to all skiers who want to become racers and all racers who have a desire to improve. Raised in club and local community racing programs with some of the finest coaches Mt. Hood has known, Breanne was shown the importance of a supportive and inclusive learning environment where each racer deserves coaching regardless of ability; and, for each racer, there is a unique progression to create.
Breanne has carried forth this tradition of tailored and high-quality coaching for the individual athlete with a focus on not only race training, but the development of the racer mindset through sport psychology and discipline-specific agility and muscle strength and endurance conditioning.
Breanne has coached at nearly all levels of racing with all age groups and abilities from Mighty-mites through Masters; high school, juniors, elite FIS, and FIS NorAm racers. Breanne holds US Ski & Snowboard certifications in both coaching (L200) and officiating and has been coaching ski racing for over 25 years.
Breanne still races as a USSS Alpine Masters events and enjoys being the captain of her back-to-back champion adult league team, as well. Breanne is a highly accomplished racer and holds several National, regional, and state champion and podium titles and has been named Coach of the Year (1998 & 2002) by two respective programs.
Depending on demand and type and duration of specific clinics, BD Performance Racing draws from a small pool of vetted, professional coaches with whom we have coached alongside for many years. When registering for sessions with BD, you can be confident in knowing that you will receive one-on-one coaching through small groups which rotate at appropriate intervals so you will gain maximum coaching exposure and perspective. Our guest coaches will be matched with your racing ability and discipline. If you're an experienced Masters racer looking to gain the edge in Super G, you will be matched with one of our speed series coaches with adult-coaching experience. Rest assured that if registering your 12 year old, that same coach will not be the same match; rather, our U12-U14 coach will fill that niche. Based upon availability, guest coaches will rotate. If you have someone specific in mind, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with inquiries at any time.
